ERIKA RADICH and SHARON MYERS: Two Conversations

On view June 28 - August 27, 2023, reception on Saturday, July 8 from 2–4pm, live music by Loren Feinstein.

The COVID-19 pandemic left Vermont artist Sharon Myers with the time, energy, and opportunity to begin a concentrated studio practice informed by the instability of the time. Using small scraps of fabric, Sharon created a body of small works bursting with color, vitality, abstraction, uncertainty, and optimism.

Close friend and New Hampshire printmaker Erika Radich responded strongly to these works with a desire to engage with and talk to the pieces in her own art practice. The two decided to collaborate. Sharon chose twelve of Erika’s recent monotype collages and created a set of fiber hangings that were direct responses to the prints.

The result is a visually compelling conversation between artists that is at once joyful and contemplative. Borrowed themes and color palettes are reinterpreted, creating entirely new pieces a result of studio practice and friendship.

Sharon Myers is a fabric, clay and mixed media artist.  Expressing her love of light, color and texture through her quilted and woven work, Sharon decided to rejuvenate her creative perspective by experimenting with mixed media and collage.  She has published articles on the art of quilting and her work has been exhibited internationally as well as locally.

Erika Radich focuses primarily on printmaking.  She says “For me, printing and repeating images evokes a sense of practice, a feeling of supplication and humility.” Radich has worked as publicist or director with area arts organizations for 35 years.  She is now retired and working in her studio full time, with her work being exhibited both regionally and internationally.
